Fort Myers, FL (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins placed pitcher Grant Balfour on the 15-day disabled list. The righthander has a strained forearm.
Balfour, who was signed by the Twins as an amateur free agent in 1997, was born in Sydney, Australia. He debuted with Minnesota in 2001 and has a career mark of 5-1 with a 4.63 ERA in 55 games.
Also Saturday, the Twins placed outfielder Jason Kubel on the 60-day DL and announced that pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith has cleared waivers and been returned to Seattle.
