Just got two teams (Winners and Competitive). Help?!

Postby Rance Mulliniks » Sat Mar 26, 2005 8:47 am

Have recently drafted two teams on Yahoo (std. 5x5 Roto). The first I live drafted and is just a normal competitive. The second, my computer froze so was autopicked (with some sketchy selections!) Unfortunately, this is my Winner's League team. Please give me your opinion on my teams, I'll gladly return the favour!

First team (my favourite, though could upgrade SP):

C P. Lo Duca (Fla - C,OF)
1B T. Hafner (Cle - 1B)
2B A. Soriano (Tex - 2B)
3B S. Rolen (StL - 3B)
SS M. Young (Tex - SS)
OF B. Giles (SD - OF)
OF B. Abreu (Phi - OF)
OF J. Bay (Pit - OF)
Util P. Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,SS)
BN E. Byrnes (Oak - OF)
BN B. Inge (Det - C,3B,OF)

SP R. Oswalt (Hou - SP)
SP Ol. Pérez (Pit - SP)
RP F. Cordero (Tex - RP)
RP D. Kolb (Atl - RP)
P C. Tsao (Col - RP)
P M. Batista (Tor - SP,RP)
P J. Bonderman (Det - SP)
BN B. Arroyo (Bos - SP)
BN M. Morris (StL - SP)
BN N. Lowry (SF - SP)

My (sketchy) Winner's League team (good OF and SP, little else):

C I. Rodríguez (Det - C)
1B D. Lee (ChC - 1B)
2B J. Kent (LAD - 2B)
3B C. Koskie (Tor - 3B)
SS K. Matsui (NYM - SS)
OF M. Ramírez (Bos - OF)
OF I. Suzuki (Sea - OF)
OF J. Drew (LAD - OF)
Util D. Roberts (SD - OF)
BN C. Crisp (Cle - OF)
BN J. Burnitz (ChC - OF)
BN C. Izturis (LAD - SS)

SP P. Martínez (NYM - SP)
SP R. Oswalt (Hou - SP)
RP K. Foulke (Bos - RP)
RP A. Otsuka (SD - RP)
P Od. Pérez (LAD - SP)
P G. Maddux (ChC - SP)
P S. Linebrink (SD - RP)
BN J. Weaver (LAD - SP)
BN J. Lieber (Phi - SP)
DL C. SabathiaDL (Cle - SP)

Any advice would help!!

i like your 1st team, not huge on feliz in the ut spot but other than that looks solid

2nd team, if u can find a way to upgrade at 3b and get another closer u could do ok there.

I like your first team very much. I think Hafner might not put up as great a year as he did, but other then that its pretty solid. The second team is alright, except for weak 3b spot and missing a closer you should be fine.

Is your team a 12 league team? If so, you must be in a crappy league because there is no way you should've gotten soriano, abreu, and rolen.

Both soriano/abreu are first round picks (in a 12 team league) and rolen is an early 2nd rounder. Even if you got lucky and picked off abreu and soriano b/c they slipped, there is no way you could've gotten rolen.

Good observation Wells. It is a 12 team league, and I originally had Soriano, Sheffield and Jeter as my top 3 picks. I traded Sheff and Jeter to what was obviously a Yankee fan for Rolen and Abreu. Made my day, since I had no 3B, and could plug M. Young in at SS.

Anyways, any thoughts on the 2 teams?? How would you improve them???

1st team looks solid. May want to get another solid starter but not overly important.

2nd team can use some work, Definatly need a closer. Also dont have much pop in the bats. Look for some HR's

Take a look at my team

I like ur first team alot but i do think that soriano isnt gonna duplicate last yrs numbers cuz he's leading off now. Probably more runs and steals tho with less homers. So the infield in general could use help

Ur rite about the second team, good OF and pitching not much else, maybe try to use one of those outfielders to get a solid infield player
