Check it out! I got all these sleepers and they are tearing it up right now!!

Kevin Brown
Pudge
Mondesi
Preston Wilson
Richie Sexson

Brown is looking really good and the other guys combine for 30 homeruns and 19 steals!

Oh wait.. this isn't 2002? Oh damn, cuz that's when I drafted them and they SUCKED ALL YEAR!! :(

Gawd.. it's so frustrating watching these players explode for some other fantasy team the year AFTER you draft them. To top it off, I also drafted Kile last year. You know, the guy who never missed a start in 12 years god rest his soul. :(

on the flip side,

isn't it nice when you win big on a guy like Torii Hunter in '02, then enter the draft knowing better than anyone that he had more and more trouble putting up consistent numbers as the year went on, so you let some other sucker waste a high pick on him?

same goes for guys like Boone and Aurillia last year. having an instinct for recognizing someone's career year is quite useful.

That's true. Look at all the people who jumped on the Tejada bandwagon and now they're saying "What's wrong with him" ;-)
He's just that bad! Derek Lowe is another. People wonder why he isn't putting up last year's numbers and it's simply because those numbers were unbelieveable. ( I drafted him somewhere around the 15th round last year) I think Lowe will get closer to last year's numbers than Tejada will. Every year you have booms and busts, this year there are a lot of booms, but almost all of them could have been avoided if you watched the games the last couple of years.

I think that's why I have so much success drafting so many pitchers early. In a 6-team league where all rosters are adjusted so that there are as many taken players as in 12-team leagues, my first set of picks were:

Randy Johnson
Pedro Martinez
Kevin Brown
Mark Prior
Mark Mulder

then I started drafting offense making sure I was able to draft Sexon, Wilson, and Cruz Jr.

Needless to say, I am in first place. BY FAR
