Wow, so many different conflicting opinions......

seems like some like AMD, some dont
most dont like Gateway
most like the rest of the specs

I like the computer, I went to dell and the closest computer with similar features(dvd burner, 80 gig HD, etc) was over $2,000

i'll have to think about it some more. anyone else want to give their opinion?

I have never had a problem with a dell. They have a deal right now that is 300 dollars off with free memory upgrade to 512MB Ram on there Inspiron 600M and 700M. It is 999, comes with a 40GB harddrive. DVD Rom, Internal Wireless card, Intel® Pentium® M Processor 725 (1.60GHz/400MHz FSB) 12.1-in WXGA. I dont think you would have any complaints with this one. You can buy it online too and see what each option upgrade costs. Easy way to buy.

If you want the DVD burner you will have cough up some extra money. I really dont use mine much though. Instead of getting 80GB of HD memory on your laptop, I would invest in a seperate external hardrive like a maxtor. Really nice if you break your lap top or lose it because you can have everything backed up on there.

http://www.macworld.com shoud be pretty good... I take a graphics class at my high school and all we use are macs in this class so thats whay got me into them.. But the good thing about macs is they are virus free, and get pop ups very rarely. Only problem is buying the microsoft word/excel packages is a lil expensive, as is photoshop and illustrator if you wanted those

I was just joking with Blankman. I own several computes, some AMD and some Intel and I've had good experiences with both. My older laptop is an AMD and it worked great (still does) just outlived it's usefulness. As for Gateway, never dealt with them so I cab't help you there. The specs look great.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
