First live draft - How'd I do???

Postby vinscully » Thu Mar 24, 2005 6:49 pm

Hey, guys, this was the first live draft I've ever done and it was in a Yahoo Winner's League, but I feel like I came okay.

It's a 5x5 Roto, 12 team league counting R,HR,RBI,SB,AVG and W,SV,K,ERA,WHIP.

Team DePodesta

C J. Kendall (Oak - C)
1B T. Helton (Col - 1B)
2B M. Giles (Atl - 2B)
3B J. Uribe (CWS - 2B,3B,SS)
SS K. Matsui (NYM - SS)
OF B. Abreu (Phi - OF)
OF C. Lee (Mil - OF)
OF J. Drew (LAD - OF)
Util M. Teixeira (Tex - 1B)
BN M. Lawton (Pit - OF)
BN K. Mench (Tex - OF)
BN P. Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,SS)

SP T. Hudson (Atl - SP)
SP Ol. Pérez (Pit - SP)
RP Fr. Rodríguez (LAA - RP)
RP M. Batista (Tor - SP,RP)
P M. Mulder (StL - SP)
P M. Adams (Mil - RP)
P D. Lowe (LAD - SP)
BN J. Borowski (ChC - RP)
BN B. Penny (LAD - SP)

What can I do to bolster this team? I was thinking of possibly dropping JoBo to pick up another starter. Also, third and short seem a little soft. Am I fooling myself thinking I can compete?

I'll be happy to take a look at anyone else's team too. Cheers.

i think ur team is pretty solid the only thing i see is maybe move uribe to SS and try to deal matsui and a pitcher for a decent 3b because that is a really deep position

It is risky at 3B and SS but I like how you have given yourself multiple options. Uribe and Feliz are excellent guys to platoon and I like Cooldude's suggestion of moving Uribe to SS and that puts Feliz in the lineup.

I dont think you can afford to trade a pitcher though.. your staff isnt that deep.

Dont drop Jobo.. wait for the season to start then stick him on your DL. Unless there is someone you *have* to grab before then..

thanks, guys, I actually just proposed this trade to another owner:

K. Matsui (SS) and K. Mench (OF)

for

D. Wright (3B)

you guys think that's a smooth move? the other guy had a really soft OF and it seemed like he could use Matsui at SS.

If you get that.. that's a killer trade. I really like Wright. He could be a top 6 3B this year while not costing as much.

Not to mention it frees up a roster spot on your team which is valuable.
