FBB Rookie's First Draft

Postby Big Stack » Thu Mar 24, 2005 11:41 am

As mentioned in the subject line, this is my first year playing FBB. I would love some advice on where I should go with this team. Forgive me for not giving my opinion on other users' rosters. I would be embarrassed to show my ignorance.

I had the 1st pick of the draft, which seems to me to be both a blessing and a curse.

For a 10 unit league, your team is average.

Your hitting is obviously stronger than your pitching. I like most of your offensive players minus jones.

Your starters are unreliable but if they pan out, you should be amazing. However, I don't remember the last time Woods was healthy for 32 starts. Schilling will be a little bit slow and Beckett is pretty much like Woods. Your closers aren't that good either. You have big names with foulke and eddie, but foulke proved that a good closer can still end up with less than 40 saves on a good team. Eddie is just hurt.

I do like Otsuka though. No saves, but decent ERA and WHIP.

Middle of the pack team. Try to deal an offensive player for better pitching.

Thanks for your input. I agree, I'm a little worried about my pitching staff. Who should I give up offensively for a pitcher? Should I go for a closer or a starter? Should I wait until the season is underway?

Thanks,

Try to dangle Loretta. I think he's overated.

Package him with a Jones and and a starter (glavine?) or Eddie and see who bites. If you have any suckers in you're league they can be impressed by Loretta's numbers and if they second guess Eddie, bring up his history and bring up the fact that he had the offseason to "rest" his shoulder.

See if you can aquire a Oliver Perez, Roy Halladay, or Jake Peavy.
For closers, try KRod, and if nothing happens, try to go for Mota. I see a 40 save season for him.
