Rookie with a computer-drafted team

Postby Jevan » Thu Mar 24, 2005 3:25 am

Ok, so here is the deal - this is my second year of fantasy baseball. Last year, I drafted the team but didn't really know what to do after that. A friend of mine referred me to this site and I am hoping to get a little input on my team. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the draft of my league, and so the computer drafted for me. I am not too sure, but I think I am in trouble here, and could really use a little input from anyone as to where I should go from here. Here's my team as of right now:

C A. Pierzynski
1B A. Pujols
2B B. Boone
3B C. Figgins
SS J. Rollins
OF M. Cabrera
OF S. Green
OF P. Wilson
Util J. Thome
BN P. Nevin
BN R. Winn
BN R. Freel

SP P. Martínez
SP A. Burnett
RP J. Nathan
RP T. Hoffman
P S. Takatsu
P D. Báez
P Z. Greinke
BN A. Leiter
BN J. Westbrook
BN T. Worrell

I am in a 12-team Yahoo league, and here are the stats we look at:

H/AB R HR RBI SB K GIDP TB FPCT AVG OPS

IP W L SV ER BB K GIDP ERA WHIP

I am totally lost so any help / input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jevan

For a 12 man league, your team is solid, only improvements that i see is in your pitching depth, try making a trade to beef it up.

If I make a trade, who should I offer? I have both Pujols and Thome, should I try and trade one of them?

thome over pujols

i agree that you do need a little depth at pitching, but i would not give up pujols for anyone or anything ... the only way i would even think about letting go of someone like pujols is if you can get two high (and i mean high) quality pitchers for him ... but you sould be able to get some great value for thome ... try to find a team in your league that is heavy on pitchers and short on power and you sould be able to get quality ... like a tim hudson or carlos zambrono type guy ... good pull on cabaera too

for thome, he'll probably have a stretch in which he will be unbelievably hot, and i'd sell him high for a workhorse SP and a decent bat to replace him in your lineup (since you already have 1b covered)

DO NOT trade pujols, unless you get 2 great players. and i mean GREAT.

I agree. Your team looks solid, but work on your pitching depth..You should contend this year. Good luck! ;-D
