First Draft of year

Postby Patoons » Wed Mar 23, 2005 7:37 pm

Just drafted... 10 team H2H - followed by a foolish trade on my part

Note - We start 3 OF, U, and 7 P (in addition to typical positions)

I believe that I got a few steals (Drew/Hunter) and did draft a few guys ealier than I should have (notably Patterson).

Curious what you guys think.

1.09 Alfonso Soriano (2B TEX)
2.02 Todd Helton (1B COL)
3.09 Carlos Zambrano (P CHC)
4.02 Roy Oswalt (P HOU)
5.09 Corey Patterson (OF CHC)
6.02 Derek Jeter (SS NYY)
7.09 Chipper Jones (3B ATL)
8.02 Roy Halladay (P TOR)
9.09 Juan Pierre (OF FLA)
10.02 Jason Varitek (C BOS)
11.09 Guillermo Mota (P FLA)
12.02 J.D. Drew (OF LA)
13.09 Brad Radke (P MIN)
14.02 B.J. Ryan (P BAL)
15.09 Travis Hafner (U CLE)
16.02 Chad Cordero (P WAS)
17.09 Juan Uribe (2B CHW)
18.02 Doug Davis (P MIL)
19.09 Ted Lilly (P TOR)
20.02 Torii Hunter (OF MIN)
21.09 Randy Winn (OF SEA)
22.02 Tim Worrell (P PHI)

Since then - Dropped Winn/Worrell and picked up Crisp/Odalis Perez

My trade was BJ Ryan, Drew, Zambrano for Harden and Carlos Lee

I wanted some more power in my OF (and Lee plays in a friendly park) and was happy with my pitching already and I don't believe Ryan will hold the role for the entire season along with worries about Drew's health.

Thoughts?

i think you made a pretty good move ... i do not see a big diff in zambrano and harden and when drew gets hurt ( b/c he is not in the magical safety zone in atlanta) you are going to come out great with the always solid lee ... on your draft i think patterson is going to have a break-out year in "05"

only problem i see is paterson in the 5th round...

there had to be a lot better outfielders left in the 5th than him.

Yea, I guess it was early as I noted in my original post.

Guys after Patterson were Carlos Lee, Sosa, Ordonez, Green, Damon, Bay.

I wanted Matsui, but he didnt fall to me (went three spots before me).

Any suggestions to improving my team?

My opinion is I should stay put. Anything different?
