Mar 23 The Dallas Morning News is reporting Texas Rangers 1B Mark Teixeira (elbow) was hit slightly above the elbow by a pitch from Oakland Athletics SP Rich Harden. He took first base and later scored but left the Tuesday, March 22 game after the first inning. X-rays showed a non-commuted fracture that could sideline the slugger for up to 8 weeks. "I'm just going to have to let my body heal, and get back in there as soon as I can. I want to be able to produce for my team and it really hurts now that I am going to have to sit back and watch for a while," he said when asked to comment.
Recommendation: This is terrible news for the Texas Rangers and the 24-year-old all-star. Mark was the 1st round (5th overall) draft pick for the Rangers back in 2001 and he has been nothing short of spectacular, racking up 38 homeruns, 101 runs, and 112 RBI's last season. We will keep you posted, but we suggest that you tweak your draft sheets accordingly.
