3B Sleepers - Take Your Pick!

Postby Darkie Satchels » Wed Mar 23, 2005 2:10 pm

With lack of depth in third base this season, who would be your sleepers?

Ty Wiggington's numbers aren't the best but he can slap them out of the park.

If the oft injured Reds tend to follow thier path of most resistance for the past few years, look for Ryan Freel to step into the picture as he has a multi-position status (2B,3B,OF). He's hitting in the .400's this spring and was considered a threat to most for 2B.

If Polonco wakes up and notices Bell hot on his coat tale he could be something good.

If ST meant anything (which it doesn't), Wigginton would be an interesting sleeper because he's been killing the ball. But, once the season starts, I'm sure he'll realize that he's a Pirate and is obligated to have mediocre offensive numbers. :,-(

I suppose he did pick it up a little bit at the end of last year (still batted horribly), but I'm still not sold until he actually brings solid numbers to the club.

:-B My point is that if you are playing a 12 man league, you are generally screwed if you didn't get one of the guys you listed above. So I'm trying to get a census on who the brilliant minds of this board think are sleepers at this position due to thier performance in pre s :-D eason.

if by some chance you miss out on the great core of 3b this year (which i cant imagine somebody doing) polanco would make an interesting late round pick. i have him stashed on my bench hoping he gets traded and starts or gets playing time at 3B while Bell is hurt.

I ended up with Casey Blake in several of my leagues. Had him rated best out of the rest of waht you showed. I have him projected at .266 86R 24HR 80RBI 6SB

After the first 12, Cuddyer, Uribe, Polanco, Koskie, Feliz and Hillenbrand would all be a lot better options than Winnington.

And to be accurate with your title, it is crappy third baseman you are looking at, not sleepers.

huff and chipper get taken a lot as outfielders though. So its not really as deep as you think. Plus lowell will be garbage after the allstar break like always, and glaus is a big question mark.
