10 team 7x7 yahoo roto league. i was indeed the schmuck who dropped colon for jose jimenez, and low and behold he's available as a FA. now, who do you think i should drop for him? roster:
c - jason kendall
1b - erubiel durazo
2b - luis castillo
ss - jose valentin
3b - robin ventura
RF - vladimir guerrero
LF - manny ramirez
CF - vernon wells
util/RF - raul mondesi
util/1b/LF/RF - raul ibanez
bench/LF - hideki matsui
SP - mark prior, mark mulder, tony armas jr (DL), randy wolf, ted lilly, brett myers, zach day
RP - mariano rivera, keith foulke, braden looper, jorge julio, jose jimenez, antonio alfonseca (DL, but need to drop/activate as he's still in a DL slot)
so what do you think? i'm guessing either myers or day, but i'm having a hard time coming to a decision.
Dropping Myers and Day for Colon and Halladay is a no brainer. Myers and Day are unproven, not guaranteed rotation spots and will likely go through typical rookie struggles. Colon and Halladay are both top 20 pitchers at worst. Do this while you still can and you should have never have dropped Colon in the first place.
I would take Colon over Halladay for a couple of reasons. First of all, he is on a far better team that, once it gets out of its funk, should start scoring lots of runs. The White Sox should contend for their division title, the Jays are also rans. Second, he plays in the weakest division in baseball. All of the starts he will get against Detroit and Cleveland should nicely pad his stats. Colon is definitely the best bet for most wins and probably will have slightly more K's; Halladay could have a better ERA and WHIP, although having all the starts against the Yanks and BoSox will be killer.
