Bowling Thread part 2

Postby Tavish » Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:45 am

I'll try to post light tonight as I'm extremely inebriated (what are the chances I spelled that right???). I finally bowled my first 800 series after 3 aggrevating 770+.

269-259-279

About damn time and sorry if I slur any posts. That will teach me for getting into any debates before bowling night and trying to finish them up afterwards. ;-D

279???? 8-o Isn't that like one missed strike-or-so away from a perfect game?

That's frikkin awesome. Doubly so in the eyes of this candlepin bowler (where 110 is considered a good string).

Nice series Tavish! I wish I could do that...I just don't get enough strikes. :,-(

I went bowling for the second time in about 15 months last week and got a 159, 162, and 170...I thought that was pretty good for being out of the game for a while. ;-D

Might as well ask if anyone saw Liz Johnson on the PBA show last week...I thought that was pretty cool. It kind of stunk that she won the first match because the other guy foot fouled twice ( :-B ), but she still won. :-)

I got 199 once !+) I've only played 10 pin bowling about 5 times in my life though. There's a 5 pin alley just down the street so I played there more often as a kid. My best score was a 308. Lets see you 10 pinners beat 308 }:-)

Actually in all three games I was two strikes short. It was just one of those nights where my mark was a 2 feet wide and even when I didn't hit it perfect I was getting good pin action. The 259 was probably my best game of the 3 just had a little less luck.

Candle pin bowling? I've heard and read about it, but it's one thing I've never tried. Did try duckpins one time, but never candle pin bowling. Interesting. ;-D

Sure did. ;-D I can't remember the last time I saw a foul on the telecast. It's been an extremely long time. And not once, but twice? 8-o I did pick Tommy Jones to win it all once the 4 finalists were named. He's won all 4 telecasts he's been on this year. The boy is on fire on the show. ;-D

A cleverly hidden trivia question that a few people are probably scratching their heads about, so here's the answer. A spare in the second frame (doesn't matter if it's a gutter spare, or a 9 count and spare, it equals the same score), and a 9 count on the 12th shot (3rd shot in the 10th frame. Strike, strike, 9 count). All the rest were strikes. Like this:

X ?/ X X X X X X X XX9=279. ;-)

Very nice, although there is another way to reach the 279 mark with only 10 strikes. :-)

Front 10, then a gutter or foul, then a 9 count. Didn't figure that was the case here though. ;-)

I didn't even think about that one. Nice. Spare - 9 count Spare - Strikeout was the only other 279 I had thrown before. There was a guy a couple of weeks ago in the league that threw the embarassing 290. :-o
