Here are a few guys who might get some saves.
Tim Spooneybarger in Florida. Mota has not closed before. And Spooney is coming back and looks strong so far. He was supposed to close in Atlanta before they moved Smoltz to the job. He has the mental makeup and is nearly two years removed from TJ surgery.
Chad Fox in Chicago (CUBS): We know LaTroy Hawkins failed before.
Scott Williamson in Chicago (CUBS): Once healthy he is the best pitcher in this pen by far.
Jose Valverde in Arizona: Aquino is no sure thing.
Ugueth Urbinia: If he is free. Rumor mill has him going to the Mets.
JJ Putz in Seattle: Will open the season as the closer. May keep the job as Eddie is hurt again.
Jesse Crain in Minnesota: Good future closer.
