BLOWN DRAFT???

Postby lyndhurst lambchops » Tue Mar 22, 2005 8:18 pm

Due to some distraction, I had a draft that left me with talent, but pretty unbalanced in my opinion. Used first 2 picks on pujols and thome. left me thin on pitching on (?) power-heavy.
once your done laughing, let me know what you think. should i make a serious effort to move one of them? having thome plug up the utility spot takes away alot of flexibility.

in my opinion, your team is looking pretty solid. Your SP may be a little weak if pavano follows in the footsteps of javier vasquez and crack under the pressure of NYY. Try trading Lo Duca and someone else for a solid SP.

ya, your offense isnt that bad, but you really need some SP. I also think Thome isnt good enogh for a round 2 pick. Hopefully Glaus can stay healthy for the year and Preston Wilson will get back to his 2003 stats

Have to assume you're a Yankees fan...but don't over rate Pavano and Wright. Brown may surprise some, though...

Either way....another good pitcher would certainly be nice. You're offense isn't bad...Matsui will have a big year, and Wells should be good, too. Obviously, guys like Pujols, Jeter, Thome are always nice to have.

I think your weak area will prove to relief pitching. Kolb won’t get many K’s and only has one year under his belt (gamble?). Grab Valverde in Arizona in case Aquino doesn’t cut it (I think he has a sore arm already).

It looks like you guys can have up to 7 pitchers going at any one time, with 5 possibly being relievers. Always keep those spots as full as possible. If you can make daily moves, drop one of your position players and pick up a stud middle reliever (Gordan, Hawkins, Donnelly, Otsuka) that you can plug in for K’s, ERA and WHIP. They are also closers in waiting.

Clearly you could use another starter but if the Yankees pitchers stay healthy, you will win a lot of games. Colon will rebound nicely.

Possibly trade an injury prone Glaus now (he’s not hurt yet) for a starter and keep an eye on the always evolving closer position. You will be able to find one. It always happens.

You have a good team. Its pretty balanced. Thome has the ability to hit 50 homeruns and having yankee pitchers means having run support so you'll have alot of wins.
