Ted Lilly will start off the year on the DL. Right now he is only expected to miss his first start of the season but he has not faced any live bats in ST and I don't see them starting him out cold so it could (and probably will be) longer.
Am I missing something? He has not yet faced live batters and has only just started throwing off of a mound. How can he be ready for the sixth game. This is a date that I think is going to be pushed back a few times.
Curious what the Lilly holder's are doing with him.
Guy in my league is holding on to him. I was hoping he'd drop him so I could just snatch him up and plug him on my bench for the first month and see what happens.
This injury just could also end up being a nice nagging injury through the entire season.
Ted Lilly finally got into some game action yesterday afternoon and his bothersome shoulder felt fine afterwards.
That's the good news.
But the left-hander, who will start the season on the disabled list and has two more minor-league starts before he joins the Jays in Toronto for an April 10 start against the Boston Red Sox, knows he has much work to do.
"The first two innings went rough," said Lilly who pitched in a minor league intrasquad game. "They were long innings and I threw a lot of pitches.
"My command was pretty good the first two innings but in the third inning it was a little shaky."
Lilly will have three days off with his next trip to the mound set for Thursday. His final tuneup will be April 5.
