Brandon McCarthy NOW the 5th starter...

Postby Purple Haze » Mon Mar 21, 2005 5:02 pm

Due to the Buerhle mishap...McCarthy will get a chance to show he is for real...

Just Read this:

Brandon McCarthy - S - White Sox

Brandon McCarthy will open the season as Chicago's fifth starter because of the injury to Mark Buehrle.
Buerhle is expected to miss all of April. It's quite a jump for McCarthy, who only threw four starts at Double-A last season. His 202/30 K/BB ratio at three levels last season was very impressive, but his 2005 upside remains relatively low because of his home park and the temporary nature of his starting gig. I feel McCarthy will continue to get better; and this season, will be a much better SP then he is given credit for..
In addition...Someday he will be absolutely filthy..Watch :-D

Good to see him get a chance ;-D He isn't worth a roster spot though but should be someone to watch in the future....

Only worth a spot in keeper leagues. It should be interesting to see this "trial" period for him to see what he's made of. I personally feel he is being rushed, but I guess they don't have too many other options (other than moving Hermanson to start - they do still have Vicaino and Marte to set up Takatsu).

not so fast.....Buerle is not as badly hurt as originally thought. Check the injury reports as he may not miss a start at all.

File McCarthy's name for future reference though....

I saw McCarthy pitch and he is down right ODB wrong when it comes to the junk he throws. This kid is going to be the real thing (baring any injuries of course). Screw watching - I'd pick him up in a second and tuck him away on my rotation. He'll get his chance at some point this season and will be A-MAZ-ING.
