Better MI: Iguchi, Crosby, or B.Roberts?

When looking for a middle infielder you're basically just looking for anyone who can help, given the scarcity at the 2B/SS positions. Who would people rather stick with to help complement their team? Crosby's got the pop, Roberts has got the speed, and Iguchi is the unknown factor that may or may not provide both.

I agree, Roberts, Crosby than Iguchi. If you are a gambler, you could take a risk on Iguchi though.

I think you've answered your own question, when you talk about complementing the team.

If you need speed, go Roberts...
If you need power, go Crosby...
If you're a risk-taker, go Iguchi!

I really like Roberts this year hitting leadoff for the O's. He'll have a ton of runs, close to 30 steals and hopefully come in at about .285 in the BA department. I like Crosby, but I think he's still a half a year away from being a truly viable fantasy option.

If you have one of the top SS's, I would think Roberts would be a heck of a compliment. He'll get the average, score lots of runs, and steal a ton of bases. 2B only has so many good hitters anyway...why ruin your BA with someone like Crosby if you have a SS like Jeter, Nomar, Renteria, or Tejada?

Even if you don't have one of those guys, I still think he's a good guy to have. I have stolen him super-late in two drafts this year - 18th (last) round in one and 21st (next to last) round in the other.

Yeah I'm a big backer of Roberts this year. He's obviously not going to hit for any power. But he WILL score a ton of runs. And if he turns some of those doubles into singles he could approach 40 steals as well.

I'm with whoever said Crosby is still a few months away at least. He may be viable in the second half but I see him with a horrible BA in the first half.

Iguchi? Who the hell knows. But know this, both Matsui's have taken a year to adjust to the big leagues. He may be worth more next year.

This trend, more than anything else, will probably be the deciding factor of keeping Iguchi off the roster. Roberts it is! Thanks for the insight, folks... I don't think Roberts gets enough press, but he should be a good speed guy in the MI.
