My other fantasy baseball team

Postby northjersey78 » Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:15 am

Finally drafted my team that I do with college friends. I won the league last year so I had the last pick in the first round.

10 teams, H2H scoring league. We kept 3 players from last year's team (in bold) so we began drafting in essentially the 4th round.

C - Jason Kendall
1B - Justin Mourneau
2B - Tony Womack
3B - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Michael Young
OF - Carl Crawford
OF - Johnny Damon
OF - Geoff Jenkins
UT - Hank Blalock

BN - Luis Gonzalez
BN - Casey Blake

SP - Roy Oswalt
SP - Roger Clemens
RP - Brad Lidge
RP - Trevor Hoffman
P - Mark Buerhle
P - Brad Radke

BN - BJ Ryan
BN - Jose Mesa
BN - Jason Marquis

I'm hoping Casey Blake gets eligibility at 2B so I can start him over Tony Womak. I actually took 2 players with my first 2 picks that I had last year anyway (Lidge & Michael Young) so I have a good core of last year's squad. Hopefully Clemens is anywhere near last year's totals. I have 4 relievers who will start every day and should give me at least 30 saves each. I have a lot of team speed, and my overall ERA and Ks should be pretty high.

Overall, a nice team.

I wouldn't want Jenkins starting in my OF in a 10-team league, and you already know that Womack is not a good 2B option.

You have a potentially big problem with injuries to your SPs, with Clemens & Buerhle on dodgy ground. I think you need to find another SP as soon as Buerhle gets assigned to the DL.

Why not Jenkins? 27 and 28 homers the last 2 years and almost 100 RBIs in each. Even if he does play for the awful Brewers he should be decent as my last outfielder.

Womack was acually the very last pick in the draft. I may scour the free agents but he's probably about as good as it's gonna get, and since he plays in that Yankee lineup he should get some halfway decent numbers. As I said, hopefully Casey Blake gets eligibility at 2B for me.

Clemens scares me a bit because of his age but he was too good to pass on with that pick.

Buerhle has started at least 34 games the last 3 seasons, when did he spend time on the DL?

Jenkins is just one of those players I don't rate! I know others do, so that's fine!

Buerhle's broken a bone in his foot and will miss around 6 weeks or so:

Damn, this would have been vital info for me before Saturday.

Looks like Jason Marquis is getting some time for the first month of the season.

Nice - looks like Buerhle has some sort of miraculous recover and won't miss any time.
