Inge has just 10 career at-bats in the leadoff spot, but manager Alan Trammell indicated that he has the capabilities to bat there.

Depends on who gets most of the playing time in center field. On days when Nook Logan starts there, I think it's easy to imagine him having a chance to bat atop the order. Tigers coaches have seen a lot of improvement from him at the plate, and they think he could be patient enough to handle that kind of role.

If Craig Monroe is the starter, though, then it's not so easy. I think Infante would get the first chance to show what he could do there in that case. Manager Alan Trammell likes him as a leadoff guy from what he showed there last year when Sanchez was hurt. Brandon Inge is also an option, but I don't think that would happen unless Infante and Logan struggle there.

Sorry - just to corroborate what NZF said. Apparantly some of the major news sources are reporting Inge could bat leadoff, which is misleading. He is a longshot to bat leadoff, but his name is on the list - that would be a better discription. Infante is still the likely candidate to bat leadoff.
