Berkman or V.Wells

Berkman is out for a month or two. Taking that into consideration (Berk would've only been slightly above Wells in my projection), V-Dub is the better pick.

Berkman is 29 and just signed that fat contract. I'd take him hitting in the juice box for six years in a keeper, plus Bagwell has to be out of firstbase soon so they can move him there to prolong his productivity.

Berkman's in his prime right now showing you what he can do. I doubt he's ever going to put up that 40+ homer season, as that really isn't his style. I'll take my chances with V-Dub in a keeper league. I feel that he has much more potential that has not been tapped at this point. Unlike Berkman, Wells is a superb athlete with more abilities.

By the way, I'd feel much better about Berk if he just gave up switch hitting.

Y'all do remember that they were basically taken at similar times in last year's draft, right?

warrick you edited before I could get my post in. Berkman has played in 150+ games the last four seasons. This injury wasn't even baseball related just something stupid imo. When he moves to first, thats where he played at Rice, he should be a 300-30-100-100 for many years to come. Keeper = Berkman.

I edited because I wasn't sure if I had the right material, but didn't Berkman have some gimpy injuries that haven't kept him out, but have made him less productive? Wasn't his power sapped by a wrist injury in 2003?

His entire physique and makeup just doesn't make me too optimistic about his aging.

Edit: I'll still take the more athletic kid with higher potential in Wells. I think we've already seen what Berkman can do.

I'm liking a healthy wells to put up close to his 2003 #'s again. Berkman is going to need time to get in shape when he comes back in may. He may not be hitting well until June.
