He's an alright pick as a backup. Maybe he'll be a nice surprise but I wouldn't want him as my primary option. I think people are in love with the unknown.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Who knows? The reports from ST have been contradictory. On the one hand, reports say he is their 2-hole batter to start the season. But other reports say he's struggling in ST and may not even have the starting gig. I think anyone's guess is as good as anyone else's at this point.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
The rotowire spin says "It'll be a shock if Iguchi were not the White Sox's Opening Day second baseman." and that he'll likely bat 9th
Actually, I heard just the opposite: that he'll bat second and Uribe will bat 9th. Since I own Uribe, I'd be fired up if he hit second rather than Iguchi.

i own Iguchi and kinda biting my nails... he's defenitly got the goods (look at his PCL stats compared to Kaz and others) ... hes a real good gamble imo .. just gotta hope he pulls an Ichiro and not a Matsui in the first year

I hope he starts...he's my starting second baseman. I haven't seen his Japan stats. Is he more of a speed guy, an average guy, a power guy, or just a defensive guy?

In 2003 He hit 27 homers and stole 42 bags.
In 2004 however, he hit 24 homers and stole 18 bags.
He's always been famous for being the 30-30 guy, just like Kaz was. I don't think we'll get to see much of Iguchi's power this year, but we'll be able to get some speed out of him.
i agree, a little less power but more speed, and a really good avg (he hit 333 in 04 / .340 in 03) .. but he's actually kinda strange b/c before that he didn't hit for high avg but had more power (2001 he hit 261 with 30 hr, 44 sb) ..
i heard that Guillen wanted to bat him 2nd, maybe that changes if he keeps struggling in ST... but i think he'll wind up at the top of the order eventually
