It's almost impossible to guess how a knuckleballer is going to do from start to start let alone over the course of a season. Wakefield can be unhittable or he can give up 5 home runs in an inning. The biggest thing to worry about with him is lack of innings. Once Schilling and Wade Miller are healthy if Wakefield hasn't been pitching well he most likely will be put in the bullpen over Arroyo although that is very much up in the air. Anyway I wouldn't expect anything more than an era around 4.5 or so whip around 1.3 and a handful of wins. He isn't terrible but still a last resort.

wakefield is very inconsistent from start to start. He can pitch lights out one night then get hammered the next, and can make for a horible WW pick up for spot starts. But he is reasonably predictable on the season, with some upside. You can expect an ERA in the low fours, about 1.3 for a whip, and perhaps 10 wins. His K's are the most unpredicatable aspect about him, but with 180 innings, ild see somthing in the neighborhood of 120. The only concern would be him losing his spot in the rotation. I agree with the rest. He definitely falls into the category of being too unpredictable to mess with in my book. There will probably be just as many "surer" bets -- I guess it's all relative when talking about ww pitchers -- out there if you're really desperate.

Wakefiled is not a good fantasy Pitcher. He is a knuckle baller and very inconsistent. You never know what you are getting from him on a given night. I would not draft him

Where do you rank Wakefield in an AL-only league? Have to think he'll get some wins with Boston's hitters. He should be starting until at least May with Miller out.
