Denny Bautista retires along with Alomar

No reason was given. This opens a D Rays OF spot. You've gotta love these old horses heading off for greener pastures if only for the opportunities it creates for BJ Upton, Joey Gathright, Jonny Gomes, and Jorge Cantu. I will miss Alomar in his prime though. The best 2B around.

I see Cantu getting the 2B gig and Gathright being called back up.

Course, it's all speculation at this point.....anyone have thoughts or other info on this?

DANNY Bautista is (was) the D-Rays OF.

DENNY Bautista is the top notch prospect SP traded by the stupid Orioles to the Royals for Jason Grimsley last year, who is lighting it up in Spring Training this year.

Nice call, GTWMA. I was scratching my head trying figure out why a guy who has a legitimate chance at a spot in the starting rotation coming out of Spring would up and retire at a young age.

Nah, Gathright won't be up. Rays signed Sanchez to fill the void, yeah...i know, it's sad... :-/
