Kenny Lofton and steals

Postby -1FA- » Sat Mar 19, 2005 1:31 pm

It seems that he has gone silent fantasy wise. He's been told he's the everyday centerfielder for Philly and bats second in front of an RBI machine lineup.

Yet he went undrafted in my league when everyone is scrambling for steals.

I know he's a grandpa, but he only had crap numbers last year because the Yankees didn't really need him with Bernie around.

The year before.. he stole 30 bases.

Am I missing something?

Seems like he is going to be a steal in the later rounds.

I took him in my supplemental draft for the same reasoning.

Only time will teel if it was a wise pick or a wasted one. ;-D
I would NEVER vote Pete Rose into the Hall Of Fame

I don't think much of Lofton and I don't see him keeping the CF job all year long. The Phillies have a couple other CF options (including Marlon Byrd) who could produce more than Lofton.

Yanks did not use him because he basically blows. I would not count on many steals even if he manages to keep the job in Philly all season. You know Lofton will find a way to get hurt.

I disagree with the last couple posts. Loften has some real value if he keeps the job and stays healthy, but that is the story with any player. I can see Lofton batting .280 with 15 Homers, 25 steals, and 60 RBI's, but his real value is that he could score 125 runs in that spot in that lineup in that park.

Agreed.

But at the same time from what I've read Philly is determined to play him everday and if Byrd rebounds, Byrd will play left.

I've got him down for 25 steals and 85 runs. I think he's a good late round gamble. Good chance he tops those numbers.

Then again good chance he gets hurt.

I'm rolling those dice!!!! ;-D

Burrell is playing left so that is a non-starter.

Lofton will start and do his usual injury routine, The more he runs initially, the quicker he gets hurt imo. Could he steal 25...sure. Is he likely to...I doubt it .
