The last debate I started about starting pitchers ended up being very interesting so here's another one: Who would you rather have, Zack Greinke, Jake Westbrook, or Jeff Weaver.
They're all pretty close in value Westbrook is good for everything but k's. Greinke is good for everything but wins, and Weaver a shade behind in my opinion.
I guess the love affair with Greinke is a bit overhyped for me. An awful team, a 2nd year pitcher and a washout like Weaver have no interest for me, however, I would be more wqilling to gamble on Westbrook this year based on last's year solid whip and era, and 14 win season, with arguably the worst bullpen in the league.

Weaver is my pick. He couldn't do it in NY (like some others) but was in the top 10 last year in Quality starts. He also plays in one of the most friendly pitchers parks around. Grienke will probably be very good but I don't think it will be this year and Westbrook hasn't shown enough one way or the other for me to go with him
Greinke may be the best pitcher on the list, but KC's lack of defense and run support will kill his value last year. Westbrook was the poster boy for luck on balls hit in play last season.
Weaver returned to form last year and will be a very solid middle of the rotation guy this year IMO.
Ayuh. Weaver was second in the majors in quality starts last year. Run support will be even worse, but his numbers should be fine. And Greinke isn't exactly backed by the Bronx Bombers. When I consider Westbrook I can't help but think of Brandon Webb's sophomore campaign. He may be fine, though.
Ive been burned by weaver so many times -- washout comes to mind, I dont think he'll amount to much for the rest of his career. Greinke and westbrook are close, with greinke having more upside
