12-team 5x5, will this pitching hold up?

Postby Egregious » Fri Mar 18, 2005 5:36 pm

Howdy. Just finished the draft in my 12-team 5x5 keeper league.

C Posada
1B D. Lee
2B M. Giles
3B Rolen
SS Nomar
OF Abreu
OF T. Hunter
OF Huff
Util Jeremy Reed
BN Berkman, Giambi, M. Bradley

SP Burnett
SP Eaton
SP Greinke
RP Lidge
RP Nathan
RP Dotel
P Otsuka
P Shields
P Betancourt
BN Kazmir, Lieber, Sabathia, F. Hernandez

My SP and OF look a bit weak (at least until Berkman comes back), but I'd like a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th...) opinion. Do you think this team can contend?

Nothing wrong with those three at OF, even without Berkman. And Reed at util will help you with SBs.

Excellent relievers, but SPs do need some work. You're missing a legitimate ace, even though I think AJ will do well this year.

But I do think you have a chance of contending this year

Here are the top SPs on the FA list - would I do better to pick up (or more) of them?

Kip Wells
Washburn
Capuono
Lawrence
Blanton
Meyer
Contreras

Of those, Lawrence is the only one I would consider in a 12-teamer. It's 50/50 whether or not to pick him up for Betancourt.

i think you'll contend this year. your offense is solid and your relief is great, but you should try and get an ace or at least an upper number 2 guy. i agree with chris, lawrence is the best on that list. i think he'll have a pretty good year.
