Anyone have any current news regarding the closer spot?
Last I heard Dempster is basically a SP now.
I know Borowski is looking good but isn't Hawkins looking good as well?

Yep, its Borowski, but I wonder how long he can maintain a stable grasp on the job. I'm betting Hawkins or Dempster see some closing action in due time.

its JoBo - i think he'll do well AND dusty baker is loyal to him. hawkins is better suited for setup duty and baker knows this and with the starting pitcher injury status, dempster may be called on to start - i actually think borowski is a pretty safe bet going into this season

Sounds like Joe, but I think he'll be a middle reliever by the end of May.
Hendry will have to go out and get a closer (no idea why he actually TALKED about getting one all offseason -- then did nothing).

The question is whether Borowski is healthy or not. If he is, he has solid past peformance under his belt and it is ludicrous to predict that he will be a middle reliever by May. If he is not near 100%, that may be the case.

If Borowski gets back up to the 90-92 mile range, I think he'll be OK as their closer. He did well in 2003, and if he's healthy, I think he can repeat.
Hawkins himself has said he'd rather setup than close.
