Draft: 1998 - Sandwich Pick by the Chicago White Sox
I saw this on his Yahoo profile today, and wondered, "What the heck? And then i got really hungry.

Is this when a team gets a draft pick for losing a FA and the pick is between the 1st and 2nd round of the draft?
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

I don't get it. If you lose a player to free agency, you get a good draft pick? But only if the player signs with a bad team? There has to be more to it than that.
When Jason Giambi left the A's and signed with the Yankees, the A's wouldn't get a pick, because the Yankees were good that year.
When Carlos Beltran left the Astros for the Mets, the Astros would get a pick, because the Mets sucked last year.
Both teams lost their best players, but only one gets a draft pick out of it?
