Bonds #1 in OBP leagues?

Postby billsfootball02 » Wed Mar 16, 2005 11:21 pm

In 5x5 OBP leagues is Bonds the only person to consider at #1? All of my projections make him easily the most valuable pick, but I have reservations about taking him at #1 with all of the controversy surrounding the season and his health issues. Would it be stupid to even consider taking Vlad/Arod/Beltran/Pujols first?

Afraid so. You count OBP, then Bonds has to be #1.

Bonds would be number one... by about one dollar over Abreu.

Yep.

Bonds is by far the best OBP player.

I'd go with Abreu, BTW, just to avoid any serious risks. (Abreu will allow more flexibility later on, too, methinks. With even a .310 AVG, he'll probably help you in that cat as much as Bonds, because of ABs.)

I don't think average is a category in a 5x5 OBP league.

Chalk it up to a lapse in thought. I knew that. When I checked values, I had OBP factored in and no AVG.

Anyway, I'd take Abreu nonetheless :-b

For OBP, plate appearances count, not ABs. So all those walks count just as a hit would. I don't think Abreu will have so many more plate appearances than Bonds to make up the difference in OBP.

Another player to bump way up in your rankings is Lance Berkman.
