Dave Dombrowski and Illitch have really turned things around nicely for the Tigers:
New stadiums for both Lions and Tigers next door to each other with new casinos, restaurants, bars, and shops to bring people in.
New committment to our farm and scouting systems. Our farm is still bottom 3rd, but it isnt nearly as barren as it was 5 years ago. We deffinitely have high grade talent in our young pitchers - also the new scouting complex in the DR could bring some nice dividends.
With Illitch having to spend less for the Red Wings this yr and probably in the future, he is able to revert some of that to the Tigers. The scary thing is that we really havent increased our payroll that much - its just terrible contracts like Damion Easley's comming off the books have allowed the new FA signings. Next yr Bobby Higginson's $8.5per yr should help land us another top FA as well.
DD has made it his career to turn organizations into championship calibur places. What he's done with this team through trades, FA signings, and placing the right people where they need to be is nothing short of remarkable. Every Tiger fan understands he is one of the main reasons for the direction this team is headed and you will rarely here someone say a negative word against him either in the papers or chat rooms.
Its a good time to be a Tiger fan.
