Is Sheffield's 7 Steals A Sign Of Things To Come?

Postby YankFan51 » Mon May 05, 2003 10:57 am

Sometimes players have breakout years on the basepaths. For instance, Torii Hunter never stole until last year. Sheffield has always shown base stealing ability. However, he has usually maxed out around 15. However, with his 7 and 0 start stealing bases, is it possible he's added a new element to his game? I'd like to see him hit 25-30 because I don't have many basestealers on my team, aside from Johnny Damon and Carlos Beltran. Any thoughts on Sheffield's stealing capabilities this year?

tough call. So many steals are based on opportunity. If he gets the green light to go, i could see 25 steals from him. Somehow, i think he will be around 20 before it is all said and done. So his pace will slow done, but if you told me that Sheff would steal 20 this year, I would be quite happy.
