I am in a 16 team H2H points league. We give points to 12 pitching categories including holds. Holds have same value as saves. So with that said do you think Tom Gordon (36 holds) will have the the same year this year like 2004?

I am trying to decide between him and

Jason Isringhausen
Akinori Otsuka (34 holds)
Guillermo Mota
Francisco Cordero

I already have

Francisco Rodriguez

I like Otsuka myself. Gordon really tailed off last august and september. He is getting up there in age. The advantage he does have over Otsuka is a rock solid closer and a lot of early leads being handed over to him.

Draft Izzy. It will be easier to get your hands on a solid MR rather than a good closer like Izzy. No question. Izzy. If Gordon is still there later in your draft, go for it.

Except take Francisco Codero instead of Izzy, for all the reasons Pokerplaya just gave.

Both Gordon and Rivera pitched way too often last year. They brought in Felix Rodriguez and Mike Stanton to help with that...

As a Yankee fan, I hope niether Rivera or Gordon put up the kind of numbers they did last year.

Take Cordero now, and later, probably Otsuka. Im a big fan of his ratios, nice Ks, and a chance to take that closer job after he gets nice holds.
