I do. I picked Loaiza up late in my draft on Saturday -- amidst plenty of snickers among my fellow Yankee fans. He had a monster 2003 and then pitched great for the Yanks through June (6-3, 3.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 40 K in 70 IP) and then -- KABLOOEY. And then, he came back and had a great post-season. What the?! The reports from ST are that he's looking sharp: hitting his spots, fastball humming, nice movement on his breaking stuff. He's got the stuff and he now in the NL. I think he's worth a late-round gamble.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.

Oh no, the 'L' word :-o

Do not under any circumstance consider him. He's a bum of a pitcher and always will be. DO NOT TOUCH :-t

He's not as bad as last year, and he's not as good as 2003. Most people have a permanent boycott against him so watch how he does in his first couple starts and pick him up if he looks like he's doing a good job. Anybody who leads the league in K's and gets 21 wins is definately worth keeping an eye on, as much as everybody loves to hate him.

In a deep league, he could be a nice late flyer.

It's kind of like the reverse of last year. Last year, you didn't draft him because he'd go way above what his actual value would be, but this year everyone's avoiding him like the plague. Not that I blame anyone for avoiding him, particularly in 12 team leagues or smaller.

got him in something like 21st round of a 19 team league. happy with that. if he pitches well, great. if not, nothing wasted, plenty of other fodder on the wire.

I'd have thought you learned by now. Loaiza's got a career 2.98 era in April and a 4.70 career era total. A quick start means nothing with him. He does it most every year and then turns into a bum (except for his one fluky year).

Well why not take a chance he'll have another "fluky" year? I can't think of many people who have been that good and then never been worth drafting again :-? Not a single one.

About all you can do is hope for his typically decent start, then trade him for a shiny marble to someone who actually thinks he might continue the success. He should be a bit better in the NL though. He can get a pitcher out, right? :-o
