Sleeper 2nd Basemen

What are your thoughts on:

1) Orlando Hudson (he was pretty good last year except one month brought his stats down - August, I think)
2) Omar Infante (some power and speed, batting second in a decent line up)
3) Jerry Hairston Jr. (traded Sosa for him! Capable of swiping 30-40 if given a full season, the only problem is he may ride the pine...)
4) Jose Castillo (my magazine really likes him for some reason)
5) Keith Ginter (pretty good HR numbers and runs a bit, but not certain if he will be fulltime 2nd baseman and can hit homers in Oakland's park)

Who is your favourite(s)? Who is your least favourite(s)? Who should I pick up now, who should I pick up later or not at all?

Hudson...streaky and nothing special...I would pass.

Infante...possibly but strictly a reserve/flier candidate at this point.

J. Hairston...pass.

Castillo...no idea.

Ginter...possibly if he plays, which is dubious.

Hudson - Not worth owning unless the Jays are serious about running more, and they find somebody to teach O-Dog how to run. He sucks at stealing bases even though he's a quick guy.

Infante - Not worth owning. Really bad hitter, won't have power, might grab you a dozen SB's but they won't be worth the hits you'll take in the other 4 categories.

Hairston - If he starts, grab him. But right now he's a utility guy. Hollandsworth stinks though so keep an eye on the situation.

Jose Castillo - Same as Infante but on a worse team, and is a little bit of a better hitter/base stealer.

Ginter - Ellis is trying to convince the team he's 100% but I don't think they're buying it. He's lost his job. As for Ginter... you'll be lucky if he cracks .250 with 15 HR's. Won't get any SB's on the A's. Not very promising.

A guy you didn't mention but is kinda in the same boat as those guys is Chris Burke. He's got big potential so you'd be better of grabbing him as opposed to assuring mediocrity with one of the 5 guys you mentioned. Also, if it's for a starting spot ( ) D'Angelo Jimenez is solid. Nothing great, but won't kill you in BA like the other guys and will get a dozen SB's and maybe even double digit HR's. He also scores a good amount of runs.

Thanx for the responses. What about Julio Lugo or Tony Womack? Someone's holding onto both right now with Jeff Kent as his starting 2nd baseman...I think he will try to trade them and then drop them before the season starts; pick either up then?

Yeah, take Lugo over all thsoe guys you mentioned. And take Burke over Lugo.

Lugo is far better than any of those other stiffs. And he has dual position elgibilty in some leagues.
