Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Mark Prior will be sidelined indefinitely because of inflammation in his right elbow.
Prior, who underwent an MRI on his elbow on Sunday, felt some discomfort after his first Cactus League start last Thursday.
Prior did not pitch until June last year because of problems with his right Achilles and elbow. The righthander was limited to 21 starts and finished 6-4 with a 4.02 ERA.
In three seasons since being selected by the Cubs with the second pick in the 2001 amateur draft, Prior is 30-16 with a 3.08 ERA.
