SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Mark Prior said he has no doubts he'll be ready for the regular season for the Chicago Cubs.
"Obviously, a lot of it depends on how I progress," Prior said Monday at HoHoKam Park. "I'm very optimistic and not worried about it as of right now."
Prior has pitched in one Cactus League game on March 10, and went three innings. After the game, he said he felt fine. But while doing his postgame exercises, he felt some discomfort in his right elbow. An MRI taken three days later showed inflammation.
On Sunday, Prior threw off the mound for the first time since that game and still has some mild discomfort in his elbow. But the right-hander can deal with it.
"It's nothing I can't work through now," he said. "It feels for the most part pretty good. My arm feels good, my arm strength is there. I didn't lose anything. That's the difference between this year and last year. Last year, I wasn't even in shape. That's the one positive thing."
Sounds like he is getting better
