What do you feel this gut is going to do this year? I drafted him as my #4 pitcher.
I'm thinking 13-15 wins, ERA about 3.80-4.00. He's such a head case, my thinking is that with Unit, Pavano, Wright, he becomes the Yankees' 4th pitcher. Might take some of the spotlight, heat off of him.
Despite his age and health risks, I'm betting he has a little bit of gas left in the tank.
He could be good. He's definitely risky, but has a high upside.
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
I don't trust Kevin Brown...he always seems to get hurt (or hurts himself by punching walls or something else), and being in New York isn't going to help him any. I don't think I would take him, but he's probably worth a 4th SP spot for the possible reward value.

I agree that there's too much risk to really put him in a spot where you need to depend on him (like Steinbrenner...hee hee...) but I picked him up as my #5 guy (CZam, Santana, Bonderman & Beckett, another ? mark guy, are the others...) but I also grabbed 3 MR to help the #s if Brown and Beckett don't work out...
when he's good, he's just so darn good... really one of the true shames of MLB is that Kevin Brown is in NY (and can't handle the pressure). I'd take him as a five in a normal league, four in a deep league, hoping the high risk high reward thang pans out.
edit: really wanted to tell this tale cause it was impressive, to me at least... several years ago was down in Florida during spring training, with the girlfriend so I only got to see one game. Kevin Brown started for the Dodgers (against the Astros if I recall correctly) and pitched 2 innings, perfect, 6 strike out work. I think he pitched about 21 pitches that game... It was one of those where when he left the game everyone was like, yup, I think he's ready to go...

i think brown is a fine 4th starter. your projections are pretty close to mine. like others said i wouldnt want to be in a position where you are depending on him, but as a 4th starter i dont think you are in that position.
i love brown for this year for some reason, as shown by me drafting in almost every keeper league i am in as my 5 th SP,........ but my projections are for him to be around 3.8 era with 12 wins or so
