With weak SPs and some good MRs out there, should I bite?

Postby gabenterprises » Mon Mar 14, 2005 12:19 am

My staff sucks:
Oswalt
Lowry
Buerlhe
VZambrano
Ortiz
Ponson

Here are some available MRs in a 14 team 5x5 n

Gonzalez
Madson
Donnely
Carero
Francisco
Brazoban

I've got only a hitter or two to drop, but with them, could trade two starters for four MRs. Do it?
Thanks!

What are your IP limits and who are your closers?

Well if Putz was available I would grab him for a start.

Still not sure what your plan is. Are you saying you could grab two decent MR's and use them to give you good ratios and vulture WINS?

VZam, Ortiz and Ponson are pretty much trash, even in a 14 team league. I might just lose two of the 3 for top MRs if they are still around. Donnelly is certainly decent. So are Madson and Mike Gonz. Scrounge for acloser where possible. 4 SPs will be 800 IPs and 3 closers give you about 210 more for about 1000. 2 Mrs would add on abpout 140 more leaving you about 100 short of the linit. Spot starting some good matchups might be the way to go until you can stumble onto a decent SP pickup. Ws is pretty much toast anyway.

Lowry would be his 3 behind Oswalt and Buerhle.

If it's Russ Ortiz and I'm assuming it is then he is far from trash in a 14 team league. Zambrano for that matter as well.

WHIP killers but decent K's and WINS.
