Okay, so the projections are fine. What about odds? If you were to say that Gagne/Lidge have 100% chance of meeting their projections, what percent chance would you give Cordero? 80%? 90%?

Does he even have any competition for the job in Washington?

the competition in washington is ayala but he doesnt worry me. the only thing that would worry me about taking him would be if they decide to use a closer by commitee.

Obvious question, but I will ask it anyway...

Use a 7th WW and drop Jerome Williams for C. Cordeo (5th closer, 5xr Roto team)? Other option would be to drop Wickman and keep 4 closers.

the thing about closers on sub .500 teams is that they typically play closer games ( because they don't blow out a lot of games ) thus giving the closer decent opps. If this holds true for the Nat's then he will get his fair share of opps and 5-7 wins as well. I like Cordero to get 30 saves and close to 80 k's. The 1.3 whip won't kill you due to about only about 70 innings pitched. Good value in the late mid rounds.

I like Chad Cordero this year. He should get the full-time job and has very good stuff. He's really young, though, so there's always a risk he'll implode. Definately worth a mid- to late-round pick. I drafted him in the 16th or so in my draft yesterday.

Ayala is a much better pitcher but they like Cordero for the job for some reason. I guess more K's means better pitcher to them. But iether way, he has the job, and closers get saves no matter how bad they are. You're projected ERA is too low, I can't see him going below 3 this year. Like mustangs said, he has horrible control.

Easy explaination why Cordero won't come close to those projections... Two Word's: "Luis Ayala" :-°

20 saves for Chad would be a good year in that situation...

Draft accordingly ;-D

Cordero was a number one pick who is consequently making a boatload of money. I think that they will give him every chance to suceed, what's to lose?
