First off, I want to know your opinions on Huston Street and if any of you know what progress he's made this spring. Also, does anyone know why he isn't in the Yahoo database? I want him on my team but he isn't listed.

Dotel just had a bad outing, and there has already been talk of trade of Dotel to the Cubs. In my opinion Street will be the closer before mid season if not sooner.

I thought that all the 'Dotel to the Cubs' talk was from demented Cubs' fans aching for Eric Gagne? :-D I don't really catch many stories on the As though as their bats are pretty forgettable and their P have some question marks. Where did you here this? The press in Chicago suggests that we have too many closers, rather than not enough..

This is from Yahoo, March 9th.

"Huston Street, a strong candidate for a bullpen spot with Oakland, has retired all nine hitters he's faced."

I'm also waiting for Yahoo to add him. Our best bet may be to write them.

This is what I was looking for on Street. Sorry, don't know how to do the hyperlink thing here.

ah, 'bullpen spot' and 'closer' are two different things!! :-D

Still sounds like an impressive ST. I guess that Chad Bradford is toast?

I wouldn't be surprised if closes by the end of the season, but he could just as easily be this year's Ryan Wagner. Remember that he is totally unproven; I would not waste a roster spot on him on the chance he will take over for Dotel at some point, although this is a realistic possibility (but not a probability).

Exactly. Im a huge A's fan but I think we need to temper our love for Street. Just remember he hasnt even pitched an inning in the bigs, and people are gonna take him thinking he will be closing.
