Software won't help you .. Though I refer to rototimes projections cus they can project in values using keepers ..
The reason software doesn't help ...
You will always overpay for the top 20-25 before the values come close to your "Projections." By then infaltion has kicked in and those values are useless .. the trick is Listening and Looking for the deals. The can come early, mid or late ... for example .. 50% of the top 25 pitchers were keepers this year .. and I was able to get Maddux for 6.00 ... Inflation? or Deflation? because so many teams ignored pitching early ..
My staff is solid .. Prior, Maddux, Wolf, Beckett, Peavy, Tomko, Smoltz, Williamson, Worrell. "10tm NL only" guys, beat that.
3 keepers and the rest steals .. and steals is way too mild a term.
The best thing about auctions ....The bidding wars.. this year ... all of the second basemen had been bought .. except Durham .. Three owners had a MI roster spot and look out .... he ended up going at 19.00 .. 1.00 less than Sosa .. almost double his value ..
Remember players don't go in any order.. one owner called a "catcher" everytime it was his turn .. ya' never know ..
Experience helps.
I got clobbered my first auction ..
Hope this helps..
