This season is my 1st year doing fantasy baseball. Approx how many SBs would one need to win that category?
Here are the players on my team worth mentioning for SBs, its a 18 team yahoo roto league.
Wright - i predict about 20 SBs from him
Winn - hopefully another 20? maybe
Reyes - 40, if he stays healthy all year he could lead the league.
do i need to add some speed to my team? also are my predictions about the smae as yalls?
thanks!
well heres the rest of my team, any of these guys going to steal a good amount?
M. Ramírez (Bos - LF)
J. Thome (Phi - 1B)
J. Reyes (NYM - 2B,SS)
D. Wright (NYM - 3B)
T. Glaus (Ari - 3B)
R. Hernández (SD - C)
R. Winn (Sea - LF,CF)
A. Kearns (Cin - RF)
P. Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,SS)
L. Bigbie (Bal - LF,CF)
R. Belliard (Cle - 2B)
K. Ginter (Oak - 2B,3B
Your lineup looks above average to middle of the pack sb's (with this sized league) . I think you stay the course in hopes that everyone stays healthy. Your power numbers should help offset any shortage of sb's (if that actually happens)

I think Wirhgt will have around 15, Winn around 15, Reyes around 35.
As for others:
Bigbie - 8
Ginter 6
Hmmm... I have never played in an 18 team league, but figure that the guy who has crawford (60) and a couple of other 20 SB guys (up to 100). Then add in maybe 2-5 for the rest of the team. I would guess 130 would land you in the top 3 (if not win it) in an 18 team league. Somebody correct me if my guess is way off...
PS: Milwaukee Braves fan? My dad grew up thinking the national anthem was actually the home of ths braves...

There is a guy in my league that has Podsednik and Beltran........should i even try and compete with that? or should i just worry about the other cats......
No forget about him. In an 18-team league he will most likely win the SB cat and waste a lot in the process unless he trades at some point during the year. I agree that you have enough SBs to be middle of the pack in the cat and that should be enough.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

good topic, I've been thinking about this as a team in our league has Crawford AND Pierre so winning SB is an impossibly remote possibility that would only happen if they get kidnapped by space aliens or something....
