Batista Toronto closer

Postby Mookie4ever » Thu Mar 10, 2005 8:24 pm

On the pre-game show today the Jays' manager named Miguel Batista as the team's closer. The reasons for the move are that he said that he needed another strong arm in the bullpen and they wanted to make room for Gustavo Chacin in the rotation.

It does not seem like a ST experiment. They have a schedule for him that will have him working back to back games by next week. Gibbons said that it's not a closer by committee but that Batista has the job.

Batista is now worth a late round flier IMO.

Thanks Mookie ;-)
The thread title to that was sort of deceiving anyway so you might not have seen it. Anyways he's defenitely worth a pickup. It's just too bad I didn't see the before I made my pick in the F14 and Kolb picked him up within minutes of being posted, in the Cafe Challenge.

Hey boys, Batista could be up for a possible trade if you're interested...

Glad I don't draft for a couple weeks.

... now, I'll just slide Mr. Speier over here to the 'setup' column ...
