escobar or colon?

I'm taking Colon. They will both have an ERA around 4. Colon should have a little better WHIP with Escobar having a few more K's. Wins are a crapshoot. So I have they pretty close. The thing is Escobar went over 200 innings for the first time in his career last year.

Maybe because he was a closer?

Yes. But I'm not arguing that he was never good enough to pitch 200 innings. I'm just saying that there is a certain amount of stress that goes along with throwing that many innings and I am concerned because he has never had a workload like that before. And its not like he threw a lot of innings without throwing a lot of pitches. He ranked 13th last year in P/IP with 16.5

Colon pitched pretty well in the second half.

12 W, 3.63 ERA, 104 IP, 89 H, 11 HR (27! in the first half), 37 BB, 82 K...

Escobar might be very good this year but my money is on Colon to rebound. I like Colon as a sleeper.

Counting all innings, he threw 180.1 in 2003 and 208.1 in 2004. This is an increase of 16%, hardly anything to be too concerned about.

Its not like he's Oliver Perez who increased his innings pitched by 56%. (126 to 196) 8-o
