Anderson removed as Tigers' closer

Postby jdh » Sat May 03, 2003 2:31 am

After one blown save, Trammel said that Anderson is no longer their closer and that he is using a commitee. I don't understand what Trammel's problem is. If every manager dumped their closer based on one blown save, Smoltz, Percival, Julio, Baez, Mesa and Benitez would all no longer be closers as of right now. It seems like he is trying to find a scape goat to deflect criticism from himself for the 3-23 start.

My prediction is Trammel gets canned before the all star break.

Not like it matters much. How many save opportunities will the Tigers have?

I think that at the very least, they have to win 35-40 games (40 is the lowest ever). Since they won't be blowing people out, they should generate at least 30 save chances, meaning that whoever their closer is would still have good fantasy value.

Anderson's gone because he isn't throwing the heat like he used to and German is a stud in waiting....and do you really think Trammel will last UNTIL the break?

Trammell will be there for at least 3 years. They brought him on knowing the team would suck. Trammell is in no danger of losing his job.
