30 HR - .260-270 - basically about the same numbers as Sosa. He's an easy pick if he's still available.

The thing with Pena though is that he strikes out a toonnnnnn. And my scoring system awards a strikeout with -1, a walk with 1. He had 27 homers and and like 80 RBIs, but with almost 150 Ks in less than 500 at bats.

Do you think he can cut down those Ks?

Everyone I really appreciate the input, but without some explanation they are just names. I think for everyones sake (this should be a good tool for anyone) reasoning for a player would help alot.

No question about that, but this thread is about DEEP, DEEP sleepers!

But as Cornbread says, if Pena's available, he's the man!

yeah - thats tough to say. From what I saw last yr and has been corroborated through other eyewitness accounts - Pena looked like he turned the corner last yr - especially with plate discipline. The problem is it doesnt really show up in his stats much. You can see he had longer streaks and shorter slumps, but thats about it. This Winter he had an OBP up over .450 before the playoffs - but then again it is just winter league. He could revert back to his free swinging days or be a monster pickup for you at this stage.

A lot of people are expecting big things out of Pena this yr - including Scott Boras - his agent - who wouldnt even discuss a multi yr deal with the Tigers this offseason. This is a contract yr for Pena - and he's playing his cards expecting a big yr too.

Cuddyer was in fact already taken...theres really nothing left, I guess besides Pena. But if anyone thinks a guy will bust out and theres a chance he might already have been taken, mention his name anyways.

I have heard Inge mentioned alot as a deep sleeper. He has catcher eligibilty, and I think he has 2 home runs in spring training (take with grain of salt). I think he is 3rd, of, and C eligible.
