it's no great mystery we are (still) not that great, but i'm just curious as to your expectations

I went typical...I see no major difference in the offense or defense. Hopefully someone will step up and take Kendall's place though, or it could be worse.

Pitching is also just as good if not better, but without any offense, we're going to keep losing those 3-2 games or error/blown save our way out of high scoring affairs. We aren't going to bludgeon teams like the Cards or Yanks do for 35% of their wins.

well by an overwhelming 2-1 margin the masses have said they think the pirates will be 'typical' this season

I voted almost there. They have a much better team than last years, but its still not good enough for over .500.

i went with "almost there" as well... I think they're good enough to be a .500 team, but playing in this division makes it tough- there are a lot of good, improving teams out there.
