I have played baseball since I was 5, and still play today. 17 years if my math is correct.
In Australia we play for club's outside of school mainly. There is no huge high school and college sport associations like in the US so there are all seperate sporting entities.
So I catch in my club's A-Grade team which is the highest you can play at club level. From there you can represent your state, and then country at the olympics.
I represented my state from under14's to under 18's, and when I was 15 made the under 17 Australian team as a catcher, and had the Jays looking at me. A year later I tore my labrum and my shoulder has taken 4 years to come back. I continued to play club baseball, but my arm has only recently gotten better.
So I went the educational route, and played ball for my university and have made the Australian University team twice in the last three years.
Really sux having to just wonder how good you could have played if you didnt get injured, but hey....thats life. My bro signed with the Twins so I'm glad somebody in my family is given that opportunity.
