MacDougal. I'm probably one of the few people who think that at some point in the season (probably in the first half) Affeldt will not be the closer for the Royals and Lil Mac will be back in the role.

only chance of this happening i think is either that Affeldt wants to start again or the Royals need him to be starter

Or
Affeldt is injured
or
Affeldt struggles and Mac is back in form

Management would like nothing better than for Affeldt to thrive as the closer. But if he struggles there is no way they send him out there if Mac has his stuff.

Why would you think Macdougal has better closer stuff than Affeldt?

Isnt Affeldt the KC closer and has that job on lockdown? Seems to me that MacDougal was nothing more than an avg pithcer who cought teams off guard for 2 months in 2003 - thats about it - very little in the way of being a solid closer. Affeldt is still young, but everything about him suggests dominating closer.

Affeldt could be the next Gagne.

I agree Cornbread. Affeldt's stuff is electric. Plus he can develop the mind of the closer. I just think Mac is too far out there mentally.
