Interesting thread.....I see pretty good numbers for Beltre this season....Well worth taking in the 9-12th round....Obviously its a little risky depending on him to be you 3b, but his price tag is so low this year that it's worth it...Just make sure you grab some insurance for him.
I think there is a chance he will improve slightly but I wouldn't bet on it.
If he can come anywhere close to that season, and he certaintly could(he's talented enough, he's young enough, he's in a better lineup, he's in the AL, Dodger's Stadium is just as much a pitcher's park as Safeco, he plays everyday because of his glove....) that would be incredible value for a 10th round pick.....Look at the third basemen projected above him by Yahoo!: Chipper Jones(Aging, injury concerns), Eric Chavez(goes through miserable slumps, good power, but limited power), Glaus(health issues, terrible average), Blalock(inconsistant, not very good average), Rolen(major health issues), Mora(decent option I guess, but limited power), Atkins(unproven), Freel(one dimensional), Nomar(health), Hillenbrand(not much power).....3B is full of question marks anyway, why not gamble with a young and talented Beltre?

That is a HUGE IF. I would take Chipper, Chavez, Glaus, Blalock, Rolen, Mora, Atkins, Freel and Nomar without even blinking over Beltre. Unless I can get Beltre with a late pick (20th and beyond), he is not worth my time. His track record speaks volume.

Nomar? Atkins? Freel?

Nomar? Atkins? Freel?
I'd take Freel over him because of his speed and eligibility. I'm not sure about the other two.

Maybe not Atkins but definitely Nomar and Freel. Look at Beltre's career numbers and how perfectly they align with what he put up in 2005. Almost scary.
